About Vidya Jyoti"Vidya" in Hindi stands for "Education" and "Jyothi" means "Light"; Vidya Jyothi together means "The light of education". Vidya Jyothi, a project of OBI aims to educate children who don't have the opportunity to go to school due to their poor economical conditions. Most of the children of Vidya Jyothi are orphans, school dropouts and children of widows or rag pickers. Apart from giving them an education, Vidya Jyothi aspires to touch these young lives with the love of Christ.
Operation Blessing India has five Vidya Jyothi Centers in Motinagar, Rasoolpura, Gajularamaram, Madhapur, (Adilabad) & Yadgirigutta
Many of the children are in Motinagar do not go to school since they take care of their younger siblings while their parents are rag-picking for a living. To overcome this problem and make sure that the children go to school, a day care center was started in the year 2004. Committed teachers of Vidya Jyothi teach the children and lead them to a meaningful life and better future.
All the children from the 5 centers were provided with books, bags, shoes, school uniforms and the stationery needed to go to school. Even the school fees were paid for some of the children. A medical check up for the children is done once in 3 months to keep track of the children's health. Once a year the children are taken out on picnic for a time of fun and entertainment. Important days like Republic Day, Independence Day, Teachers Day and Childrens day are celebrated. Vidya Jyothi helps 1,970 children of the lower socio-economic sections in 8 Centers through the Back to School Programme.
