Anitha and Aatma Rao belong to Tai Bai Thanda 10 Km away from Mukehd in Maharastra state. A tribal-dominated village Tai Bai Thanda is populated with people belonging to the Banjaran tribe. This small village of barely 300 people is deprived of many important facilities, like a proper healthcare center, a school or even water. Tap water comes once in three days for the entire village. Even at this time they don’t get enough to collect for the all the 50 families leave alone preserving for the next few days. The only alternate water Anitha and Aatma Rao’s is one such family that bears the cost of under-development. They have been living in the village since a long time. Ankush their son is now 19 and he is a laborer in Mumbai, Shoba Bai their 10 year old daughter stays at home while Heeraman their 8 year old son goes to school. The family barely manages to survive on the monthly income of Rs 1800. Both Anitha and Aatma work as laborers. Despite his limited income, Aatma Rao assists a pastor Devajanaik in his work in remote areas. Whenever he gets some free time, he spends it in assisting the pastor.
Anitha and Aatma have to work to make ends meet. The eldest son is also not at home for the mother to think about staying back at home. This leaves the responsibility of getting water on the small shoulders of Shoba, the ten year old girl. This stops her from going to school as well because if she goes to study there would be no one to take care of the household chores and the very important chore of getting water.
